Creator says stop complaining about corporate jobs, internet divided

Complaining about one’s corporate job on social media has become a rite to passage. But now, a creator’s no-filter take on corporate life is striking a nerve online, opening up a debate that millions of office workers have probably had with themselves at least once.

In a viral video on Instagram, 24-year-old Anmol Warikoo argued that people spend too much time complaining about their corporate jobs and not enough time accepting the reality of their choices. His message was simple: if your job is not genuinely toxic, stop constantly cribbing about it. If it is unbearable, leave and find something better.

THE ARGUMENT THAT STARTED THE DEBATE

The creator said many employees treat corporate jobs as villains while continuing to show up every day. According to him, endlessly complaining about work only creates more negativity, especially when that work occupies a huge part of a person’s life.

He also challenged the popular social media narrative that paints entrepreneurship and passion careers as the only paths to fulfilment. Not everyone can turn a hobby into a business, he argued, and there is nothing wrong with being an ordinary employee with a stable job.

His most controversial remark was calling himself and many others “mediocre” in the sense that most people are not exceptional athletes, entrepreneurs or celebrities. For him, accepting that reality is not an insult but a starting point for contentment.

Here’s the video posted by Anmol Warikoo (@iron_crafted_life):

WHY MANY PEOPLE AGREED

The video resonated with workers who feel social media often romanticises quitting jobs, travelling the world, building startups and “escaping the rat race.”

Many viewers felt his point reflected real life. Bills need to be paid, responsibilities exist, and not everyone has the financial cushion to chase passion projects full-time. Some agreed that spending years hating a job while making no effort to change the situation can become emotionally exhausting.

The creator also suggested that passions do not always need to replace jobs. They can exist alongside them, offering purpose and satisfaction outside office hours.

WHY OTHERS PUSHED BACK

Not everyone was convinced.

Critics argued that the message oversimplifies workplace struggles. Many employees remain in difficult jobs because of family responsibilities, economic pressures or limited opportunities. For them, “just quit” is not always a realistic option.

Others took issue with the idea that people are stuck in corporate jobs because they are not talented or hardworking enough. They pointed out that career outcomes depend on many factors, including privilege, access to opportunities and personal circumstances.

Some viewers also noted that discussing workplace problems is not necessarily negativity. In many cases, it can be the first step towards improving working conditions.

A CONVERSATION MANY WORKERS RECOGNISE

The reason the video has travelled so widely is that it touches a question many professionals wrestle with: should happiness come from changing your circumstances or changing your mindset?

The creator believes acceptance is the answer. His critics believe acceptance should not become an excuse for settling.

Judging by the reactions online, there is no easy winner in that debate. But one thing is clear: few topics get office workers talking quite like the jobs they spend most of their waking hours doing.
