LG Sinha hands over jobs to Nowgam blast victims’ families, says nation stands with them

Srinagar, Dec 12 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday met the families of the victims of the Nowgam Police station “accidental” blast and handed over appointment letters on compassionate grounds, saying the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with them to ensure they live a life of comfort and dignity.

Nine people mostly policemen were killed and 29 others were injured in a powerful explosion inside the Nowgam police station on November 14. The explosives had been seized by J&K police during the probe into the white collar terror module also linked to the Red Fort blast.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police said the blast was accidental. A day after the blast, the J&K government constituted a high-level committee under the Chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Home Department, comprising IG Kashmir, District Magistrate Srinagar and a senior Scientist from Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory, Government of India to probe the blast.

The Lieutenant Governor today paid tribute to those killed in the blast and expressed gratitude to their families.

He said the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families to ensure they live a life of comfort and dignity.

The Lieutenant Governor said the whole country is proud of J&K Police for stopping terror in its tracks by unearthing and dismantling the terror network last month.
He appreciated J&K Police’s meticulous investigation and multi-faceted effort to detect, disrupt and prevent terrorist acts.

He also directed the senior officers to disrupt the terrorist financing pipeline and effectively counter the radicalisation attempts by certain separatist elements.
