UP govt to hold five mega job fairs in early 2026; aim to create one lakh jobs

The UP government is set to organize divisional-level job fairs (Rozgar Melas) in the state’s five districts in the beginning of 2026. Through these job fairs, many private sector companies will provide on-the-spot employment to approximately one lakh youth.

A release, issued by the UP’s information department claimed that the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, run by the Uttar Pradesh government, has emerged as a powerful medium for widespread employment generation in the state. Through a coordinated model of skill training, industry participation, and job fairs, the Yogi government has taken concrete steps towards connecting millions of youths with employment and making them self-reliant, the release mentioned.

In the release, Kapil Dev Agarwal, minister of state (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, skill development and entrepreneurship, said that the Yogi government’s objective is to provide local employment to youth, prevent migration, and move the state forward towards a one trillion-dollar economy. He said that the state government is shaping the skill training to the needs of industries, so that youth can be directly linked to employment after training.
He said that an average of 100 companies will participate in each “Rozgar Mela” being held this month, and approximately 20,000 youth will be directly connected to employment. The goal is to create 100,000 jobs through the five “Rozgar Melas”. Candidates from several districts within the respective divisions will participate in these fairs.

According to the release, since the financial year 2017-18, 186 large employment fairs have been organized at the district and divisional levels. Through these fairs, employment has been provided to more than 4.32 lakh youth, demonstrating the success of the state government’s employment-oriented policies, the release mentioned

The state government aims to connect youth in rural areas with employment. More than 2.26 lakh rural youth have been provided employment through 1,624 job fairs organized under the Deendayal Upadhyaya Rural Skills Scheme.
