Delhi Inspires Fuel Conservation With Work-From-Home Initiative

The Delhi government is making a notable push to conserve fuel by recommending a two-day work-from-home policy for private companies. This measure comes as part of the 90-day ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan’ campaign spearheaded by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The initiative was inspired by a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prudently manage resources amid global challenges. The labour department’s advisory, issued last Sunday, stressed that conserving fuel types like petrol, diesel, and CNG is crucial, given that commuting significantly contributes to fuel consumption in the capital.
Employers in various sectors, from IT to commercial establishments, are urged to adopt work-from-home practices, stagger employee hours, and promote car-pooling and public transport to ease road congestion. The advisory also encompasses advice on minimizing travel for non-essential purposes and the conversion of face-to-face meetings into virtual ones to achieve resource efficiency.
