I don’t care when you work: IITian founder backs outcome-based work culture

While many startup founders advocate early morning routines, IIT Delhi alumnus and Lickcious founder Ishan Jindal says his most productive hours begin after 9 pm, when the office is largely empty and distractions are minimal.
Speaking to Moneycontrol, the 30-year-old entrepreneur said he is at his creative best during late-night hours. “That’s when I’m most creative,” Jindal said, explaining why he prefers working through the night instead of waking up early.
Jindal, who appeared on Shark Tank India earlier this year and secured a Rs 50 lakh investment from Anupam Mittal, said he typically wakes up around 11.30 am and reaches the office between 12.30 pm and 1 pm. His office hours often extend until 9 pm or 10.30 pm, after which he continues working until as late as 3 am or 4 am.
The founder traced his unconventional routine back to his days at IIT Delhi. He recalled that the quiet hours after midnight offered uninterrupted focus, allowing him to work without constant interruptions.
“It’s a period where you can just work on things because there are lesser number of people around,” he told Moneycontrol, adding that the silence helps him concentrate better.
Jindal also said his approach extends to how he manages his company. Instead of evaluating employees based on when they arrive or leave the office, he focuses on outcomes and ensuring work does not depend on a person’s physical presence.
According to him, productivity should be measured by results rather than fixed office hours, allowing employees greater flexibility in structuring their work.
