Over 37k get Govt jobs after BJP came to power in Odisha


As many as 37,371 educated youths have been offered to join government services across various departments since the BJP government came to power in June last year, the Odisha Assembly was informed on Friday.
Replying to a question in the House, Skill Development and Technical Education Department Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said, “Through various placement drives organised by the District Skill Development cum Employment Offices, 26,412 candidates have been shortlisted for placement in different private sector organisations during the period from 1 April 2024 to September 2025”.

A total of 13,09,250 educated youths have registered their names in different District Skill Development-cum-Employment Offices till 31 October this year.
The registration portal of the Directorate of Employment, Government of Odisha, serves as an interface that integrates job seekers and facilitates access to both the public and private sectors for employment opportunities, the minister added.
In the run-up to the 2024 polls, the BJP in its manifesto had promised to fill up 1.5 lakh government vacancies in five years. The government has filled 37,371 vacant government jobs in the last 16 months.
In a relief to those who crossed the 32 age barrier for government jobs, the Mohan Majhi-led BJP government has increased the upper age limit for entry into various government services (non-uniform services) from 32 to 42 years.
