Amazon, the giant online store, is planning to cut even more jobs, according to a report by Reteurs. This is part of a bigger plan to reduce the number of people working in its offices by about 30,000.
More Job Cuts Coming Soon
Just a few months ago, in October, Amazon cut around 14,000 jobs. Now, they are planning another round of cuts, possibly starting next week. Earlier, the e-commerce giant had slashed 27,000 jobs in 2022. This makes it over 40,000 jobs in nearly last four years.
Will Amazon cut jobs in India too?

Nothing official from the company has come that the e-commerce company may cut jobs in India also. But, reports suggest that Indian employees may be impacted.
How Many Jobs Will Be Lost?
The number of jobs lost this time is expected to be about the same as last year, around 14,000. This means that Amazon is getting closer to its goal of cutting 30,000 jobs in total.
Which Departments Will Be Affected?

The job cuts will affect different parts of Amazon, including:
Amazon Web Services (AWS): This is Amazon’s cloud computing business. Retail: This is the part of Amazon that sells products directly to customers. Prime Video: This is Amazon’s video streaming service. Human Resources: This department is in charge of hiring and managing employees.
Is AI the Real Reason?
At first, Amazon dropped a hint that the job cuts were related to the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). They said that AI is helping companies do things much faster.
What Amazon’s CEO Says?
But later, Amazon’s CEO, Andy Jassy, said something different. He said that the job cuts were “not really financially driven and it’s not even really AI-driven.”
Why is Amazon Doing This?
Jassy said that the real reason for the job cuts is “culture.” He explained that Amazon has become too big and has too many layers of management. This makes it harder to get things done.
He also said that he expects Amazon’s office workforce to get smaller over time because AI is making things more efficient.
A Big Change for Amazon
Cutting 30,000 jobs is a big deal for Amazon. The company has about 1.58 million employees in total, but most of them work in warehouses. The job cuts will affect about 10% of the office workers. This is the biggest layoff in Amazon’s history.
What Happens to the Workers?
The workers who were affected by the job cuts in October were told that they would continue to get paid for 90 days. During that time, they could look for other jobs inside or outside of Amazon. That 90-day period is ending soon.
