Jobs, Visas, Skills & a $20 Trillion Opportunity

The India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) marks a major step in advancing people-first growth, aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build a skilled, confident, and globally competitive India.

At its core, the agreement focuses on talent, trust, and partnerships, opening large-scale opportunities for MSMEs, women entrepreneurs, artisans, youth, students, and professionals. By linking Indian businesses more deeply with European value chains, the FTA strengthens India’s role as a reliable global supplier and innovation partner.

Boost for Skills, Jobs and Global Mobility

One of the most transformative aspects of the India–EU FTA is its strong focus on skills and workforce mobility. The agreement creates new pathways for technical and vocational education and training (TVET), apprenticeships, and work-based learning through deeper collaboration between Indian institutions and European industry.

Indian youth stand to benefit from globally relevant skilling, better employability, and exposure to international best practices—turning local talent into global professionals.

Easier Access to Europe’s $20 Trillion Market

The FTA provides India with predictable access to 144 service sub-sectors across the EU, including IT, financial services, education, R&D, and professional services. This significantly improves market certainty for Indian companies and service providers.

For professionals and service suppliers, the agreement opens doors across 54 sectors, enabling smoother short-term travel, temporary stays, and business visits between India and EU member states.
