Key Responsibilities

This project employs a genome-wide transposon mutagenesis approach to combat Tuberculosis.

  • Project: “A Genome-wide transposon mutagenesis approach to identify Hypervirulence-associated genes and live attenuated vaccine candidates for combating Mycobacterium Orygis-associated Tuberculosis.”
  • PI: Dr. Nisheeth Agarwal
  • Genetic Discovery: Identify genes associated with hypervirulence in Mycobacterium orygis.
  • Vaccine Development: Screen and evaluate live attenuated vaccine candidates to combat TB.
  • High-Containment Research: Conduct culturing and manipulation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains within the specialized BSL-3 laboratory.
  • Analytical Execution: Set up and perform biochemical, immunological, and cell-based assays to validate research findings.
  • Molecular Engineering: Preparation of recombinant plasmids and execution of molecular biology protocols.

Position Details

BRIC-THSTI is seeking a motivated researcher with a strong foundation in molecular and cell biology.

  • Designation: Project Research Scientist-I.
  • Emoluments: ₹56,000 per month + HRA.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 35 years (Relaxations apply for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwBD as per GOI norms).
  • Essential Qualification: Post Graduate Degree (including integrated PG) in Life Sciences from a recognized university.
  • Technical Requirement: Proven experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, animal handling, and immunology supported by publications or a project thesis.
  • Desirable: Prior experience working with Mycobacterium in a BSL-3 facility.
