She left home at 22 for an MNC job. But one smart idea keeps her parents closer to her than ever before

But one woman seems to have found the most clever and adorable way to keep in touch with her family members. According to a report by Humans of Bombay, it was a simple idea of installing a CCTV at her home that unexpectedly brought the woman closer to her parents.
In the post, the woman revealed that she left her hometown, Nagpur, at 22 years old and moved to Vadodara after getting a job at a well-paying MNC. Her brother also shifted to a new city, leaving their parents all alone in Nagpur. The woman recalled that the day she left, her mother turned visibly emotional and tears streamed down her face while seeing her daughter off at the railway station. She encouraged her daughter to succeed in life, giving her blessings.
The woman shared that since her family comes from a farming background, watching their children grow independent softened their hearts and made them proud. ‘Me working in an MNC, doing night shifts, is a big deal for them. They proudly tell everyone, ‘She is my daughter, earning on her own and taking care of her responsibilities,’ noted the woman.
Despite living far away from their home, the woman and her brother ensure that they spend time with their parents when they return home on special occasions. The family watches television together, shares personal anecdotes, and jokes at Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah dialogues. On festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Diwali, the parents celebrate their children’s homecoming by preparing their favourite dishes and sending them extra food when they have to depart again.
The woman added that distance hasn’t changed how she and her brother show up for their parents, despite living away from them for over 3 years. One heartfelt hack that the siblings came up with was installing a CCTV at their Nagpur home to check on their parents. One day, they realised that they could interact with their parents through the system, which also took their parents by a sweet and happy surprise.
Since that fateful day, the siblings track every movement of their parents, including their mother plucking flowers for pooja, collecting milk, or chatting with a neighbour. Every night, it has become a ritual for the mother to come in front of the camera to say good night and ask if her children have eaten. According to the woman, watching her parents on CCTV somehow makes her feel closer to them, more than video calls. In conclusion, she added that these moments make her realise that home isn’t just a place, it’s the love of her parents.
