Fadnavis: Special Vehicles, Gig Jobs For Disabled Soon | Nagpur News

Nagpur: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday directed Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to explore providing specially designed vehicles to persons with disabilities based on their individual needs and connecting them with gig-economy companies to create employment opportunities.Speaking at a programme organised by NMC for persons with disabilities, Fadnavis said the initiative should help specially-abled citizens use vehicles for employment and earn a livelihood with independence. The proposal is part of a broader push by govt and NMC to move beyond welfare-based assistance and focus on education, healthcare, employment and economic empowerment of persons with disabilities.Fadnavis said persons with disabilities should not be deprived of benefits of govt schemes and stressed for continuous efforts to ensure their inclusion in the mainstream. He said NMC should maintain records of beneficiaries so that they can be provided assistive devices and support whenever required. The CM was speaking at concluding ceremony of a Jaipur Foot and Assistive Devices Measurement and Distribution Camp, organised jointly by the Chief Minister’s Office, NMC, Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti, Nagpur Zilla Parishad, Nagpur District Disability Rehabilitation Centre and Tata Trusts.
