In total, 41 accused will face charges under Sections 13(1)(d) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The court has acquitted 52 other accused.

The court has accepted the charges against Lalu Yadav as prima facie valid based on the evidence on record. The trial will now proceed against him and other accused. Arguments will be heard during the trial, after which the court will deliver its final verdict.

CBI files chargesheet

During the previous hearing, the CBI submitted a verification report stating that out of the 103 accused named in the chargesheet, five have died. The investigation agency has filed the chargesheet against Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, their son and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, and several others.

Alleged conspiracy between 2004 and 2009

The CBI claims that the conspiracy was hatched between 2004 and 2009, when Lalu Yadav was the Union Railway Minister. During this period, people from Bihar were allegedly appointed to Group-D railway posts in various zones, including Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hajipur.

The agency alleges that in exchange, these individuals or their families transferred land to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family members and a company called AK Infosystems Private Limited, which was later taken over by his family.

The CBI further stated that in almost all cases, land was transferred before the jobs were officially given, and most transfers were executed through gift deeds.

It is also claimed that Lalu Yadav’s close aide, Bhola Yadav, allegedly told villagers to transfer land to the Lalu family in return for jobs for their relatives. All those who transferred land claimed they were paid in cash by the Lalu family.

The CBI has also named Lalu’s daughters as accused. Specifically, MP Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav are accused of receiving land at nominal prices, as stated in the chargesheet.
