Gurugram work from home advisory: Offices, schools asked to WFH on August 25


The Gurugram district administration has advised corporate offices, government and private schools and other institutions to ask their employees and staff to work from home on August 25, 2026, following heavy rainfall in the district on August 24.

The advisory, issued by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Gurugram, comes amid the possibility of waterlogging and traffic congestion at various locations. The administration said the measure would also allow civic agencies to carry out repair and maintenance work on roads and drains.

The DDMA has advised corporate offices, government and private schools and other educational institutions to guide their employees and staff to work from home on August 25.

The advisory is aimed at reducing traffic on the roads and facilitating repair and maintenance work by civic agencies in areas affected by the heavy rainfall.


The administration has also asked citizens to cooperate and plan their travel accordingly.

Gurugram rain on August 24: Waterlogging, traffic disruption

The advisory follows heavy showers that disrupted traffic and caused waterlogging across several parts of Gurugram on August 24.

According to a PTI report, Gurugram received 70 mm of rainfall by 1:30 pm. Waterlogging was reported in Narsinghpur, Hero Honda Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk and several areas of old Gurugram.

Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Railway Road, Sector 5, Old Delhi Road, Mehrauli Road and Basai Road were among the key areas affected. The Naharpur underpass was also waterlogged.

Vehicles were stuck around Rajiv Chowk, while school buses and ambulances were caught in waterlogging on Sohna Road.

Heavy rain also disrupted traffic in other parts of Delhi-NCR, with several roads and low-lying areas reporting waterlogging.Gurugram rain advisory: What residents should do

People travelling in Gurugram on August 25 should check road and traffic conditions before starting their journey and allow extra time for travel.

Commuters should take extra care around roads, underpasses and other areas that are prone to waterlogging.

The district administration has advised residents to cooperate with the August 25 work-from-home advisory and follow updates from the relevant authorities.

The DDMA advisory is dated August 24, 2026.
