An Instagram video documenting a series of inter-hospital telesurgeries is drawing widespread attention for a major technological milestone in Indian healthcare. The clip showcases how complex procedures were carried out remotely between medical teams located in two different cities, highlighting the growing role of robotic platforms in modern surgery.
The procedures were conducted on February 14, 2026, between Mohak Bariatric Centre + IRCAD India in Indore and Her Health Hospital in Bhopal. Using the SSI Mantra–Asana chair/console system, doctors successfully completed 18 reciprocal telesurgeries within a span of eight hours. The achievement has since been submitted to both the World Book of Records and the Limca Book of Records, where it has reportedly been accepted.
According to details shared in the post, the surgeries included 13 gastric bypass procedures for morbid obesity and five complex gynecology procedures performed by Dr Priya Bhave. The entire process was fully documented and recorded. The milestone is being described as an example of how coordinated teams and advanced surgical technology can bridge geographical distances.
In the video, the lead surgeon is seen arriving at the facility and being welcomed by his team with garlands, marking the importance of the occasion. After the brief welcome, he walks directly toward what he refers to as the “SSI Mantra–Asana chair/console,” in the caption. It is the robotic system used to perform the remote operations.
What’s In The Video
Seated at the console, the surgeon begins operating while connected to the OT. The clip presents split-screen visuals with one part showing him controlling the robotic instruments from the console, while another captures the surgical procedure underway at the operating site. Viewers can see both the external operating room setup and internal camera visuals from inside the patient’s body.
The video highlights how technology enables surgical expertise to be delivered across distances while maintaining live communication and documentation throughout the procedure.
Work From Home For Surgeons
The comment section reflects public curiosity. One user wrote, “Work from home, good job sir.” Another commented, “Abosolutely unbelievable…I think you are the first and only surgeon in india who is doing this, congratulations sir and god bless.” Someone else added, “Finally surgeons can work from home too.” The viral clip has sparked discussions about the evolving future of remote surgery in India.
