TCS asks Nashik employees to work from home, NCW orders probe into harassment, conversion allegations

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has asked employees at its Nashik facility to work from home, citing the convenience and safety of staff, amid an ongoing probe into allegations of harassment and religious conversion at the unit.

The development comes as the National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of the matter and constituted a fact-finding committee to investigate allegations of sexual harassment and forced religious conversion. The committee is scheduled to visit the Nashik campus on April 18.

According to reports, the work-from-home decision was also taken after individuals linked to certain local political groups allegedly attempted to vandalise the office premises. Around 170 employees work at the facility across two shifts.
Police have registered multiple FIRs in connection with the case, with several individuals arrested and investigations underway. The case pertains to complaints by employees alleging mental and sexual harassment, coercion, and attempts to influence religious beliefs over a period of time.

Authorities have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter. The NCW’s committee is expected to interact with victims, police officials, and company representatives, and examine the circumstances surrounding the case.
