‘This Feels Like Torture’: Woman Rejects WFH Job After Learning Company Wanted Webcam Access And Screenshots Every 10 Minutes | Viral News

Remote jobs are often associated with flexibility, comfort and better work-life balance. For many professionals, working from home offers freedom from long commutes and rigid office routines. However, Gurleen’s experience raised questions about whether some companies are replacing that flexibility with excessive digital supervision.
While sharing the clip online, Gurleen captioned the post, “Hiring humans or robots!???”
In the video, she explained that the interview had been going smoothly until the discussion shifted towards how the company intended to track employee productivity.
“I recently gave a job interview and one of their policies is just stuck in my head. It was all going well. There is a work from home role in which they wanted to keep a track of our work,” she said.
According to Gurleen, the company allegedly expected employees to remain visible on webcam during working hours while also monitoring their computer screens. She further claimed that screenshots of employees’ screens would be captured automatically at frequent intervals throughout the day.
“And on top of that, they will take your screenshots of working. Every 10 minutes, bro, I can’t even sit still for 10 minutes,” she added.
Gurleen said she understood the need for productivity tracking in remote jobs, but felt the company’s approach crossed the line into intrusive surveillance.
“And work from home should be flexible. I understand that productivity and tracking efficiency is very important, but like this, it feels more like a torture to me,” she said.
As the interview progressed, Gurleen explained that her interest in the role gradually declined because of what she described as a highly restrictive work culture.
“Such a restricted culture and micromanagement will never let me grow. This is more strict surveillance than office. I don’t know if you would align with this type of job, but it was definitely not for me,” she stated.
Her video quickly gained traction online, with many social media users relating to her concerns and criticising the alleged monitoring policies.
“Bro isse jada aram to office me h😂😂” commented one user.
Another wrote, “Manager ghar kyu nahi aa jata to check the productivity?🤣”
“Censor bhi laga do bhai😂” another user joked.
